Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday to review progress on the government divestment programme in the telecommunications and information technology sector, as per a Cabinet statement.
Madbouly stated that the meeting was focused on implementing the government’s offerings programme to optimise state assets through partnerships with the private sector to support economic growth.
Amr Talaat, minister of Communications and Information Technology, discussed potential private sector partnerships in meetings with the government offerings committee and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group.
Talaat also outlined partnership opportunities in telecommunications, including expansion of the fibre optic network, mobile towers, and data centres, according to the statement.
These initiatives are designed to increase investment in the sector and improve digital services for citizens, fostering digital transformation, infrastructure development, and technological innovation.
