Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail met Thursday with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kentaro Sonoura, to follow-up developmental, economic, investment joint relations between two states.
The meeting follows the visit of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Tokyo, and the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzō Abe to Cairo.
Egyptian Cabinet spokesman Hossam Al-Qaweesh stated that the PM thanked the Japanese government for providing a soft loan estimated at US$451 to establish the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Ismail also welcomed applying the Japanese technology in establishing the Museum as it owns latest technologies used to execute and establish largest museums and exhibitions . The Grand Museum is vital for attracting international tourism to the Egyptian market, the Premier asserted.
The spokesman added that Ismail asserted on Egypt’s keenness on obtaining benefit of the Japanese educational experience as pursuant to the decision of Egypt’s government to allocate land plots to build 100 schools within the coming two years.
During the meeting, Ismail pointed out that the steps taken by the government in its economic reform programme target growth rate to reach 6 percent in cooperation with international finance organisations.
Qaweesh emphasised on the importance of attracting more Japanese investments to Egypt through the participation of Japanese firms in different projects notably the Suez Canal development projects, Egyptian industries, infrastructure, petrochemicals sectors, information technology, textiles, iron and steel, as well as power generating projects.
On other side, Sonoura stated that his visit to Egypt comes to follow-up the agreed on projects with Egypt besides enhancing bilateral relation between Egypt and Japan.
