Egyptian National Railways Authority’s 11-month revenues rose 11.4 percent to 2.022 billion Egyptian pounds ($112.7 billion) from 1.791 billion pounds in 2017, the state-run statics agency CAMPAS said on Tuesday.
In November, revenues increased 13.9 percent to around 187.4 million pounds against 164.5 million during the same month in 2017, a CAMPAS bulletin said.
“The number of the passengers using the Egyptian railways jumped 4.9 percent to 234.5 million during the January-November 2018 period, versus 223.1 million during the same month last year,” the agency said.
In November, the number of passengers fell 8.8 percent to around 22.3 million to 20.5 million last year.
The quantity of goods transferred in the railways dropped 11.7 percent to 4.042 tonnes during the first 11 months of the current year from 4.513 million tonnes during the same period in 2017.
