Egypt’s exports of ready-made garments rose two percent to $406 million during the first quarter of this year from $397 million last year, the Textile Export Council said in a recent report on Sunday.
The sector’s exports declined 0.4 percent in March 2019 to reach $129 million, compared to 130 million in the same month of 2018.
The United States topped importing countries of the Egyptian ready-made garments in 2019’s first quarter, recording $224 million, compared to $193 million in the same period of 2018.
Exports to the UAE increased 334 percent to reach $7 million in the first three months of 2019, compared to $2 million in the same period in 2018.
Canada’s imports from the Egyptian textiles rose 84 percent to reach $5 million.
