Egypt’s remittances jump nearly 50% in first seven months of 2025

Remittances sent home by Egyptians working abroad surged 49.7 per cent during the first seven months of 2025, reaching $23.2 billion, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Wednesday.

The figure marks a sharp rise from $15.5 billion recorded over the same period in 2024, reflecting continued strong inflows from expatriate workers.

On a monthly basis, July 2025 recorded the highest-ever remittance level, rising 26.3 per cent to $3.8 billion, compared with $3.0 billion in July 2024, according to the central bank.

The continued growth in remittances provides a boost to Egypt’s foreign currency reserves and supports the country’s efforts to stabilise the Egyptian pound amid broader economic pressures.
