Egypt national football team stars Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Hegazi have been included in the “best 11” players list at the 2018 World Cup qualifiers released by the Confederation of the African Football (CAF) on Thursday.
Liverpool winger Salah and West Bromwich defender Hegazi were part of Egypt’s squad, and helped the Pharaohs to seal an early World Cup ticket after beating Congo 2-1 in a dramatic clash in Alexandria on 8 October, in which Salah scored a brace.
Already-qualified Egypt meet Ghana away from home in their last Group E match on Sunday, having earned their ticket to next year’s Russia finals with one game to spare.
The Pharaohs are awaiting December’s 2018 World Cup draw which will determine their opponents.
The best 11 list also includes Tunisian winger Ali Maaloul, who plays for Egyptian side Ahly, as well as Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Nigeria’s Victor Moses.
