Egypt’s SCA explores shipyard upgrades with China’s CSTC

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie held talks with Zhang Jinming, vice president of China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC), on Saturday to explore cooperation in modernising the authority’s shipyards and affiliated firms, the SCA said.

The discussions covered introducing advanced technology, localising the maritime industry, and improving technical and administrative efficiency through training, automation, and consultancy.

Rabie said the SCA’s extensive industrial base, including multiple shipyards, is well-positioned to meet domestic needs and compete regionally. He instructed the preparation of a comprehensive development study, supported by information exchange and field visits.

Zhang affirmed CSTC’s interest in working with the SCA and said enhanced cooperation with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) could support the modernisation drive through technical solutions, training, and supply chain support.
