Egypt’s SCZONE eyes expanded Chinese investment via Zhejiang partnership

Egypt’s General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein met Tuesday with a senior delegation from China’s Zhejiang Federation of Industry and Commerce (ZFIC) to explore deeper cooperation in manufacturing, logistics and financial services, the Cabinet said.

The talks, led by ZFIC vice chairman Jiang Xiaomeng, brought together SCZONE officials, government representatives and executives from major Zhejiang-based firms.

Gamal El-Dein outlined the zone’s strategic advantages, including six ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas linked to four industrial areas with advanced infrastructure. He positioned SCZONE as a global logistics hub and a key gateway for investment across 21 industrial, service and logistics sectors.

He also cited Egypt’s free trade agreements as providing broad market access and invited more Chinese firms to invest. The meeting follows a promotional tour in China last month that secured six textile and ready-made garment projects, with more deals expected soon.
