Egypt’s SCZONE, South Korea’s Samil Solution sign $4.5m garment deal

Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed an agreement with South Korea’s Samil Solution Co. Ltd to build a $4.49 million ready-made garments factory in the West Qantara Zone, the authority said on Thursday.

The factory, spanning 21,000 square metres, will produce about 8.8 million knit and woven garments annually for export, creating roughly 1,000 direct jobs. The project marks the second South Korean investment in the zone.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dein said the deal underscores West Qantara’s growing role as a hub for textiles and apparel manufacturing. The industrial zone currently hosts 46 projects across 2.86 million square metres, with total investments of $1.19 billion from eight countries, employing more than 63,000 people, he added.

Headquartered in Seoul, Samil Solution is a global apparel manufacturer with production and marketing operations in Vietnam, Cambodia, Hong Kong, the United States, France, and Brazil, supplying leading international fashion brands.
