SEMAF factory, part of Egypt’s Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI), signed on Wednesday a memorandum of understanding with Gharably Integrated Engineering Company (GIECO) to advance Egypt’s railway industry, according to a Cabinet statement.
The collaboration aims to localise advanced technologies, enhance value-added production, and support the national Made in Egypt initiative.
AOI Chairman Mokhtar Abdel Latif emphasised the partnership’s significance in strengthening the railway sector, boosting local manufacturing, reducing imports, and contributing to the Egyptian economy.
The agreement includes plans to manufacture railway car components in compliance with international standards, addressing the Ministry of Transport’s requirements for high-quality, locally produced products. The initiative also targets export opportunities to African and Arab markets, aligning with Egypt’s broader economic and industrial goals.
