Egypt’s Sisi, Germany’s Steinmeier stress two-state solution, strengthen bilateral ties
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Sunday underscored that a two-state solution remains the only path to lasting peace in the Middle East, according to a presidency statement.
The discussion took place during Steinmeier’s visit for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which he described as a landmark achievement reflecting Egypt’s historic and cultural legacy.
The leaders also explored ways to deepen cooperation on politics, security, energy, economy, and education, building on momentum from the first EU-Egypt Summit. They pledged continued collaboration on regional challenges, including sustaining the Gaza ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid, and coordinating preparations for Cairo International Conference on Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development of Gaza, which will take place within the current month.
Egyptian officials in attendance included Ministers of Transport and Industry Kamel El-Wazir, and Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Atty. Germany was represented by senior diplomats and ministry officials.
The two sides also agreed to enhance coordination on migration management, labour mobility, and joint infrastructure projects, aiming to advance sustainable development and economic growth for both nations.
