Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi extended his condolences to Jordan’s King Abdullah on Thursday after flash floods in the country caused a number of deaths.
At least 20 people had died in the floods, most of them school pupils, Jordanian emergency services said on Friday, while a number of people were injured, including members of the security forces involved in rescue operations.
El-Sisi expressed to King Abdullah Egypt’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance and resources to help Jordan overcome the ordeal, his spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Friday.
The Egyptian foreign ministry issued a separate statement extending its condolences to the Jordanian kingdom for the victims and those injured and missing.
