Egypt’s Sisi, Spain’s Sanchez discuss two-state solution

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a phone call today from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, during which the Egyptian leader reaffirmed his country’s unwavering position on the necessity of implementing a two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the pre-1967 borders as the most viable path to lasting regional stability, according to Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El Shennawy.

Both leaders reaffirmed the growing momentum in bilateral relations and the need to further enhance cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors.

Prime Minister Sanchez praised Egypt’s key role in brokering a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and expressed keen interest in President Sisi’s perspective on implementing the agreement, which aims to prevent further bloodshed and restore stability in the region.

President Sisi, in turn, commended Spain’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause. He outlined Egypt’s ongoing efforts to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza, alleviating the dire humanitarian crisis faced by its residents.

The call also addressed the situations in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, and Libya. Both leaders exchanged views on ways to restore regional stability and safeguard civilian populations from the escalating crises affecting the Middle East and North Africa.
