Egypt’s stock exchange to operate same shortened trading hours during Ramadan amid coronavirus
Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) said on Thursday it will operate with the same shortened trading hours during the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan as imposed on March 24 amid the coronavirus pandemic. On March 24, the EGX has shortened its trading hours as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The trading session of the main market listed securities and SMEs market (NILEX); will be from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm, preceded by a discovery session at 9:30 am.
“The time to record orders in the deals market for transactions with large volume from 9:15 am to 9:45 am,” EGX said in its website.
The trading session for non-listed securities (Orders Market, OTC) will be on Monday and Wednesday only of each week from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
“The trading session for non-listed securities (Deals Market, OTC) will be from 09:30 am to 1:30 pm,” it added.
In addition, the trading session for non-listed securities (Central Depository) will be from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, and the time to divide Omnibus Accounts will be from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
