Egypt’s stocks end week higher, benchmark EGX 30 gains 0.51%
Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark EGX 30 index gaining 0.51 percent to 12,043 points.
EGX 70 EWI index of the leading smaller and mid cap enterprises (SME) added 0.67 percent to 2,316 points, while the fixed-weighted index, EGX 30 Capped hiked by 0.67 percent to 14,398 points. In addition, the equal weights index, EGX 50 increased by 0.69 percent to 2,168 points.
The all-embracing index, EGX 100 grew 0.71 percent to 3,386 points.
Banks in Egypt and EGX will close on Thursday, January 6 on the occasion of the 2022 Coptic Christmas holiday. Trading will resume on Sunday, January 9.
Market Cap
The country’s market capitalisation has posted gains worth 5.1 billion Egyptian pounds ($324 million), ending the trading at 776.853 billion pounds due to local and Arab investors’ buying appetite.
Trading Aggregates
Trading value has approximately reached around 1.169 billion pounds, while the trading volume has almost recorded 371.686 million securities executed 42,566 transactions.
