Egypt’s strategic reserves of cooking oils reach 7.6m
Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade announced that the country’s strategic reserves of cooking oils have increased to 7.6 months. This development follows the government’s directives to bolster the nation’s stockpiles of various goods for six months.
According to a Cabinet statement, the General Authority for Supply Commodities has contracted for 76,200 tons of crude cooking oil, including 69,700 tons of imported crude sunflower oil and 6,500 tons of locally sourced crude soybean oil.
The expanded reserves aim to meet the full demand for cooking oil under the ration card system, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.
