Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority inspects shipyard, hospital facilities in Suez

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) carried out inspections of service facilities and work sites in Suez Governorate on Wednesday, including the Suez Shipyard and a local hospital, the authority said in a statement.

At the Suez Shipyard, SCA Chairman Osama Rabie reviewed ongoing repair operations on the vessels SEA LADY and KRITI VII, scheduled for completion by month-end. The dry dock, which can handle vessels of up to 8,000 tons, is supported by side cranes with lifting capacities of 10 and 15 tons.

Maintenance work on the mechanical slipway, which lifts up to five units at once, was also inspected, alongside operations at the 55,000-ton floating dock servicing Al Horreya, the Saudi-flagged Saif Al Khalij, and the Singapore-flagged GOODAL.

Rabie urged adherence to repair timelines and quality standards to maintain client confidence, and called for a study to boost the shipyard’s competitiveness.

The delegation also visited SCA Hospital in Port Tewfik, where emergency, intensive care and dialysis units were inspected. The ICU is expected to become fully operational soon, while a new outpatient clinic complex in Hode El-Dras will open shortly.
