Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority, Saudi Ports Authority explore expanded maritime sooperation

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA), headed by Osama Rabie, met on Sunday with Suliman bin Khalid Al-Mazroua, chairman of Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), to discuss expanding cooperation in logistics services, maritime unit construction, port operations, and dredging. The talks took place on the sidelines of the annual International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (MARLOG).

The meeting highlighted the SCA’s successful collaboration with Saudi ports, including its Maritime Training and Simulation Academy (MTSA) modelling of Ras Al-Khair Port in preparation for dualisation of the approach channel, which was praised by the Saudi delegation.

Rabie also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to localise the maritime industry through shipyards and affiliated companies, which have grown significantly under the slogan Made in Egypt with World-Class Quality at Competitive Prices.

For his part, Al-Mazroua confirmed that Saudi ports and the Suez Canal are ready to welcome the return of major shipping lines, and expressed interest in cooperation on ferry construction, dredging, and quay operations, particularly as Jeddah Port undergoes major infrastructure development. He added that this partnership reflects the strong bilateral relations and is expected to expand further.
