Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, chairman of the SCA, reaffirmed the SCA’s commitment to maintaining direct and effective communication with clients, addressing the current challenges, and working towards mutually beneficial solutions. He expressed his eagerness to continue discussions with MSC, monitor the evolving situation, and facilitate the exchange of perspectives to enable a gradual resumption of navigation in the region.
Despite the Red Sea crisis, Rabie emphasised that the Suez Canal remains fully operational and has expanded its service offerings. New services include maritime rescue, ship repair and maintenance, crew change services, and marine ambulance assistance, among others.
For his part, MSC CEO Soren Toft stated that the company does not favour the Cape of Good Hope route due to its lack of navigational services, which often makes sailing there a more cautious endeavour. He expressed hope for a swift return to stability in the region, allowing MSC vessels to resume operations and transit through the Suez Canal once again.
