Egypt’s Suez Canal operations normal despite adverse weather

Navigation through Egypt’s Suez Canal is proceeding normally, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said on Wednesday, as 39 ships passed in both directions, with a total net tonnage of 1.6 million tons.

Chairman Osama Rabie said operations remain unaffected by the weather thanks to the Authority’s advanced monitoring systems and experienced maritime personnel. “We continue to implement all precautionary measures, including safety procedures during pilot boarding and routine maritime operations,” he added.

The SCA’s Crisis and Disaster Management Committee is operating around the clock to monitor traffic and maintain readiness of maritime rescue crews, tugboats, hospitals, and emergency services. The authority also coordinates with operations rooms in Canal cities to provide support during emergencies.

Citizen crossing services between the Canal’s banks via ferries, bridges, and tunnels continue, following maritime safety instructions and coordination with navigation offices in the three Canal cities.
