Egypt’s trade deficit decreased by 25.7 percent to LE27.9 billion (US$3.6 billion) in August 2015, from LE37.5 a year earlier, the state’s Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) said on Wednesday.
The decreasing in the trade deficit is due to a 22.5 percent decline in imports’ value in August, to stand at LE41 billion, as opposed to LE52.9 billion in August 2014, CAPMAS said.
Moreover, the exports’ value dropped by 14.4 percent, standing at LE13.1 billion in August, while it was LE15.3 billion a year earlier.
