Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) signed an agreement on Wednesday to provide medical services with Ain Shams Specialised Hospital in Obour and Ibn Sina Specialised Hospital in Giza.
The agreement aims to offer a range of specialised services, reflecting the authority’s commitment to expanding its network of healthcare providers and ensuring health insurance coverage for beneficiaries across all governorates where the system is actively implemented.
This agreement is part of UHIA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen and enhance the efficiency of the healthcare provider network.
UHIA is expanding contracts with reputable medical entities from both the public and private sectors, as well as university hospitals, to ensure high-quality health insurance services are available to a large number of beneficiaries, in line with international standards.
UHIA also announced several new agreements with university hospitals across various governorates, including the National Liver Institute at Menoufia University, the Oncology Centre at Mansoura University, Ghoneim Kidney and Urology Centre, and the Geriatric Medicine Hospital at Ain Shams.
UHIA continues to contract with private hospitals accredited by the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR), such as Ibn Sina Specialised Hospital. These efforts have increased the number of contracted entities within the comprehensive health insurance system to 450, with the private sector accounting for 29 per cent of the total number of contracts.
