Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) signed cooperation agreements on Tuesday with Ahl Masr Hospital, a leading burn treatment centre, and Zohairy Hospital, a multi-specialty provider, as it works to broaden the reach of the country’s universal healthcare system.
The deals are part of UHIA’s strategy to enhance access to quality medical services across governorates where the national insurance system is being implemented, the Cabinet said in a statement.
UHIA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring service continuity for beneficiaries, both in areas covered by the current rollout and those still to come, as it pushes toward achieving full nationwide health coverage.
With the latest signings, the total number of contracted healthcare providers in UHIA’s network has risen to 448, with private-sector institutions now accounting for 27.5 per cent of the system.
