The EIB Institute, the philanthropic arm of the European Investment Bank (EIB), announced on Thursday a €750,000 donation to support humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza, with a focus on medical and nutritional aid for vulnerable populations.
The funds will be channelled equally through international NGOs Welthungerhilfe and CARE, which have established local networks in Gaza. The aid will prioritise children, who make up over half of Gaza’s population, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women and other high-risk groups.
“We are financing urgent medical and nutritional assistance and also working towards lasting peace in the region and a better future for the Palestinian people,” EIB President Nadia Calviño said.
“The EIB Institute is committed to supporting vulnerable communities in moments of acute need. With this donation, we aim to help trusted humanitarian partners bring life-saving medical assistance and relief to people in Gaza, with a special focus on vulnerable groups that are suffering the most,” Director of the EIB Institute Shiva Dustdar said.
The EIB previously provided €250,000 in 2024 through Welthungerhilfe to deliver healthcare and nutrition services to nearly 90,000 people in Gaza.
In addition to humanitarian aid, the EIB recently signed a €400 million financing facility with the Palestine Monetary Authority to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian small and medium-sized enterprises as part of the EU’s €1.6 billion Programme for Palestinian Recovery and Resilience for 2025–2027.
The EIB confirmed that all Gaza-related funds will be subject to strict integrity and compliance checks before disbursement.
