El Zahaby Proposes Solutions for Reducing the Social Housing Cost

Dr. Khaled El Zahaby, chairman of the Housing and Building National Research Center, seeks to meet Dr.Tarek Wafiq, Minister of Housing and New Urban Communities, in order to discuss the Center’s role in supporting the social housing project, by providing it with non-traditional building materials that would extensively reduce the project’s expenses and accelerates its completion.

The Center currently supervises only 20 apartments, which will be built using non-traditional building materials. The Center is responsible for assessing the materials the companies use in building these apartments and checking their expiry date.

El Zahaby emphasized that Bayt Al Watan Project achieved only 40% of the selling target due to the high price of the plots and the lack of facilities for payment. However, he added that the plots are located in very prestigious areas and that’s why their prices are high. The project aims at enhancing the national interest in the first place, by pumping hard currency to sustain the Egyptian economy during the current period.
