Elon Musk announced on Friday former NBCUniversal (NBCU) advertising chief Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO. The announcement came as the company tries to change a drop in ad revenue at the social media platform.
Yaccarino served as a key figure in modernising the advertising business at NBCU, which is owned by Comcast Corp. She has spent around 12 years at NBCU where she became the chairperson of global advertising and partnerships.
She was responsible for the launch of ad-supported streaming service Peacock in 2020. Yaccarino is the chairperson of the World Economic Forum’s Taskforce on Future of Work and is on the WEF’s Media, Entertainment and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee.
In 2018, she was named by former U.S. President Donald Trump to the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition.
