Italian energy group Eni and Qatar Energy signed a 27-year liquified natural gas (LNG) purchase deal to supply of up to one million tons per annum (MTPA) of gas to Italy, according to a statement published on Monday.
LNG deliveries are expected to start in 2026 and will be sourced from the joint venture between Qatar Energy and Eni that holds a 3.125 percent share in Qatar’s massive North Field East (NFE) expansion project.
Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs and CEO of Qatar Energy, and Claudio Descalzi, the CEO of Eni have signed the deal during a ceremony in Doha.
