Eni wins two onshore exploration blocks in Egypt
Egypt has awarded Italy’s Eni two onshore exploration blocks.
Eni holds a 100 percent stake in the first block, South East Siwa, which covers a 3,013 square kilometres area located in the West Desert.
The Italian energy giant will operate the second block, West Sherbean, in which the firm owns a 50 percent share, while BP holds the remaining stake, according to a company statement.
Located on the Nile Delta, West Sherbean spanning 1,535 square kilometres, Eni added.
Eni invests in various energy projects in the North African nation, which helped the company to become the country’s top oil producer.
