Erdogan plans to visit Russia for black sea grain talks next week
Türkiye’s President Tayyip Erdogan is expected to visit Russia next week to discuss on reviving a Black Sea grain deal that could be used as a springboard for broader Ukraine peace negotiations, according to source said on Monday.
Omer Celik, the AK Party spokesperson, told the reporters that the meeting will take place in Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi, but did not specify whether he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ankara helped to negotiate the only major agreement signed since the outbreak of the war – the UN-backed deal to ship grain from Ukrainian ports across the Black Sea to avert a global food shortage.
