EU approves €1.7b to boost Czech recovery plan

The European Commission (EC) disbursed €1.5 billion in grants and €200 million in loans to the Czech Republic under its recovery and resilience plan, an EC statement showed on Tuesday.

This follows Czech’s third payment request submitted in September 2024, covering 65 milestones, including reforms to the Energy Act, waste management plans, and whistle-blower protection.

The funds will support investments in rail infrastructure, energy-efficient public buildings, industrial research, and courtroom digitalisation.

While 63 milestones were positively assessed, Czech was granted additional time to address two partially fulfilled milestones.

To date, Czech has received €4.39 billion of the €9.2 billion allocated under its recovery plan.
