EU delays ban on Russian diamond imports
The European Commission announced on Monday a delay in enforcing a ban on diamond imports from Russia that have been processed in third countries.
This decision is part of the EU’s 14th sanctions package against Russia. The ban will remain postponed until the European Council determines its activation, which hinges on coordinated actions within the G7.
Additionally, the EU has extended the deadline for implementing a mandatory tracking system for Russian-origin rough and cut diamonds into its member states by six months, now scheduled for March 1, 2025.
