The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) remained stable in the European Union (EU) at 96.7 in September 2024 and dipped slightly in the euro area to 96.2, according to DG ECFIN data.
The Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) also saw little change, reaching 100.0 in the EU and 99.5 in the euro area, near its long-term average of 100.
Consumer confidence improved, rising by 0.5 percentage points in both regions. Despite reaching -11.7 in the EU and -12.9 in the euro area, confidence is nearing its long-term average, signalling cautious optimism among consumers.
