EU executive vice-president Timmermans holds climate meetings in Egypt ahead of COP27
European Commission executive vice-president Frans Timmermans started on Sunday a two-visit to Egypt to attend official meetings with government officials and take part in climate talks.
The talks are ahead of the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) which will be hosted by Egypt’s Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh this November.
In addition to constructive engagement ahead of COP27, Timmermans will initiate discussions on a Mediterranean Green Hydrogen Partnership and deepen engagement on topics of mutual interest, such as the clean energy transition and energy efficiency, green growth models, and diversification, sustainable finance, carbon markets, and adaptation.
