EU expands sanctions on Russian Vessels

The European Union (EU) is expanding sanctions against Russia with 27 new vessels, including oil and LNG tankers, added to the list.

This latest move, part of the EU’s 14th package of sanctions, includes measures like banning Russian LNG trans-shipments from EU ports after a 9-month transition period.

The list, to be detailed in the EU’s Official Journal, targets energy-related vessels such as Novatek’s Saam and Koryak, involved in LNG trans-shipments despite US sanctions.

Other vessels include those transporting Russian defense equipment and the Enisey cargo ship, accused of moving stolen Ukrainian grains. These sanctions aim to hinder vessel operations by affecting spare parts, engineering support, insurance, financing, and compliance with EU-related requirements.
