Euro area annual inflation hits 2.0% in October

Euro area annual inflation rose to 2.0 per cent in October 2024, up from 1.7 per cent in in the previous month, according to figures published by the EU statistical office, Eurostat on Tuesday.  While this marks a slight increase, it is still significantly lower than the 2.9 per cent in recorded a year ago.

The European Union as a whole also experienced a rise in inflation, reaching 2.3 per cent in October, up from 2.1 per cent in September. A year ago, the EU’s inflation rate was 3.6 per cent.

While some countries like Slovenia (0.0%), Lithuania, and Ireland (both 0.1%) saw relatively low inflation rates, others, including Romania (5.0%), Belgium, and Estonia (both 4.5%), experienced higher rates.
