Consumer confidence in the EU increased by 0.5 percentage points in October 2024, marking the first time it has hit its long-term average since February 2022, according to a flash estimate released on Thursday.
In the euro area, confidence rose by 0.4 percentage points but is still slightly below its average.
The Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) in September 2024 remained largely unchanged in both the EU at 96.7 and the euro area at 96.2. The Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) showed minimal changes, standing at 100.0 in the EU and 99.5 in the euro area, near their long-term averages.
