The seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.4 per cent in the euro area and by 0.3 per cent in the European Union in the third quarter of 2024, according to Eurostat’s preliminary flash estimate on Wednesday.
In the second quarter of 2024, GDP had grown by 0.2 per cent in the euro area and by 0.3 per cent in the EU.
On an annual basis, the seasonally adjusted GDP grew 0.9 per cent both in the euro area and in the EU in the third quarter of 2024, compared to +0.6 per cent in the euro area and +0.8 per cent in the EU in the previous quarter.
Ireland was the top performer among the Eurozone countries, with a quarterly growth rate of 2.0 per cent. Lithuania and Spain followed closely with growth rates of 1.1 per cent and 0.8 per cent, respectively. The year-on-year growth rates were positive for seven countries and negative for six.
