Europe Stocks Higher After German, French GDP

European stock markets opened higher Tuesday, underpinned by better-than-expected German and French gross domestic product data.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.5% to 270.15, led by the bank and energy sectors, with a 1% gain for Banco Santander SA and a 1% rise for Total SA . Shares of Portugal’s Galp Energia SGPS SA rose 4.7% on oil find news.

The German DAX 30 index rose 0.8% to 6,969.01, while the French CAC 40 index rose 0.8% to 3,452.54. The FTSE 100 index gained 0.6% to 5,869.49.
