European shares surged on Wednesday at 5:43 ET (9:43 GMT), with the pan-European STOXX 600 index rising by 0.44 per cent.
Most regional indices saw gains: Germany’s DAX rose by 0.48 per cent, France’s CAC 40 increased by 0.37 per cent following positive consumer confidence data, and Switzerland’s SMI climbed by 0.52 per cent.
London’s FTSE 100 edged up by 0.01 per cent.
Consumer price reports from Germany and Spain are due on Thursday, with a key Eurozone inflation update scheduled to conclude the week.
