European shares up on midday

European shares rose on Monday as investors anticipated key economic data and a possible interest rate cut by the European Central Bank (ECB) later in the week. The pan-European STOXX 600 index climbed 0.84 per cent by 7:10 ET (11:10 GMT).

Germany’s DAX increased 0.74 per cent, France’s CAC 40 rose 0.68 per cent, and Switzerland’s SMI was up 0.33 per cent. In London, the FTSE 100 edged up 0.64 per cent amid cautious market sentiment.

Key economic data to watch include consumer price inflation figures from Germany, Spain, and France later this week. Additionally, Britain’s employment data is scheduled for Tuesday, followed by GDP figures on Wednesday.
