European stock markets tank as coronavirus pandemic weighs on

European stock markets traded lower on Monday morning, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on the continent and financial markets.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 dived 4.5 percent briefly after the opening bell.
