European stocks flat ahead of key U.S. jobs report

European stocks were flat on Friday ahead of a key U.S. federal jobs report and amid rising tensions between Washington and Beijing.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 hovered just above the flatline by early afternoon, with banks falling 1.3% to lead losses while industrials added 0.7%.
