Fawry Electronic Bill Service has contracted with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) to provide payment services via mobile phone and shipping portfolio Mobile Wallet by the next May.
Eng. Ashraf Sabry, CEO of Fawry stated that the company has started working with a large number of banks to provide payment services and mobile money transfer to make Fawry collection points play a role in recharging stations to use it in payments.
He pointed out that the NBE is one of the first banks which Fawry has contracts with to provide services.
Moreover, Sabry has expected that the services will be started within the coming May by using the available technology in the provision of payment services via mobile to the NBE’s customers.
Furthermore, Sabry has noted that it does not start negotiating with the other banks within the current phase until the experience will success with the NBE.
Sabry has emphasized that his company will start to address mobile phone firms to activate portfolio Mobile Wallet, pointing out that the installed system on Fawry’s network is ready to activate banking services and add liquidity to mobile portfolio’s users.
He added to Amwal Al Ghad that the activation of payment license through mobile as part of Information and Communication Technology Ministry’s (MCIT) strategy 2013-2017 does not affect Fawry’s plan within this period, noting that it is ready to activate the services for long periods.
Eng. Atef Helmy, Egypt’s (ICT) Minister has announced that it has agreed with the Broad Directors of the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to activate money transfer service via mobile phone from the past Thursday.
