A massive fire destroyed dozens of makeshift shacks used to store merchandise at a popular Cairo market on Wednesday.
The fire erupted in the early morning hours of Wednesday at Al-Sayeda Aisha Market in southern Cairo, destroying around 50 of the makeshift shacks, which mostly held furniture and electric appliances.
There were no injuries reported.
Prosecutors have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which required nearly 16 fire engines to extinguish.
Al-Sayeda Aisha Market, also known as Souq El-Gomaa (the Friday Market), is considered a hotspot for the sale of cattle and second-hand merchandise.
In early May, fires destroyed large parts of another popular market the El-Rawiei and Ghouriya areas in central Cairo.
