Finance Ministry Holds Press Conference On Sukuk Today

The Egyptian Ministry of Finance will hold on Thursday a press conference on sukuk law, recently passed by Shura Council, and will respond to all questions about sukuk and the executive procedures of the law.

The conference will be attended by Dr. Ahmed El-Naggar, adviser to the Minister of Finance and the one responsible for sukuk, and the Sharia scholar Dr. Hussein Hamed Hassan.

Shura Council approved the sukuk law last Tuesday without referring the law to Al-Azhar to be revised by its Senior Scholars Council, in violation to the constitution which stipulates that Al-Azhar’s opinion “shall be taken in matters related to Islamic sharia”.
