France records €57.9bn tourist revenues in 2022

France gathered €57.9 billion in 2022 from the international tourism, which exceeded the expectations, according to French tourism development agency, Atout France.

The tourism revenues have increased around €1.2 billion at the end of December 2022 , compared to 2019 before the pandemic, the agency reported on its website.

The agency also added that the high revenues point out to the return of European and American tourists as well as the effect of the inflation.

The agency further added that the number of Asian tourists, specifically from China and Japan is still low.

In terms of the revenues, Spain is still leading France on by a total revenues of €64.8 billion from Madrid alone.

The foreign tourists who are reported to spend the most money are from Belgium with around €7.3 billion, Germany with around €6.5 billion, and the UK with around €6.2 billion. The United States of America came in at number 5 with around 5.6 billion euros.
