France’s inflation rate slowed to 1.9 per cent in August 2024, down from 2.3 per cent in July.
This decrease is attributed to a marked slowdown in energy prices, with petroleum product prices falling and electricity price growth easing due to last year’s high base effect.
The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) also dropped to 2.2 per cent from 2.7 per cent in July and fell by 3.5 per cent compared to August 2023.
