France’s inflation rises in Jan. ’25

France’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 1.7 per cent in January 2025, up from 1.3 per cent in December, driven by higher services and energy prices, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) on Tuesday.

The monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) saw a 0.2 per cent increase in January 2025, consistent with December’s rise.

Core inflation, excluding food and energy, slightly rose to 1.4 per cent year-on-year.

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) recorded a 1.8 per cent rise over the year, matching December’s pace. Key drivers included services, healthcare, and energy, reflecting broader trends in the cost of living.
