France’s inflation up in Nov. ’24
France’s inflation edged higher in November 2024, with the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HCPI) rising by 1.7 per cent year-on-year, up from 1.6 per cent in October, according to provisional estimates.
Over the month, it fell by 0.1 per cent, following a 0.3 per cent increase in the previous month.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) also saw a year-on-year increase of 1.3 per cent in November, up from 1.2 per cent in October.
This stability in inflation is due to a slowdown in food prices, offset by an acceleration in service prices and a less marked fall in energy prices compared to October. Prices of manufactured products and tobacco remained stable.
On monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.1 per cent in November, after a 0.3 per cent rise in October.
This slight decrease was mainly due to lower service prices, particularly in transport. Food and manufactured product prices remained stable, while energy and tobacco prices rose slightly.
