Egypt’s free zones capture 25% of total exports’ volume recording US$ 8.2 billion annually, Investment Minister Ashraf Salman said on Thursday.
The free zones are playing important role in the Egyptian economic system, Salman added, asserting that the total invested capitals in those free zones reached US$10 billion recently.
Ministries of Investment and Finance are currently making regulations on private free zones to be submitted to the Cabinet soon, Salman elaborated.
Moreover, the minister clarified that foreign labor’s volume in those zones is estimated at 3.500 workers out of 69.000 workers as total in all zones in different governorates.
